Social Studies

This video is a protest against SNA. The people in this video that are participating have come from everywhere in New Zealand to walk with signs and banners against SNA. This walk started on Thursday in Hokianga and ended on Friday and ended Kaikohe Council Facility. This walk was started by Dame White Cooper and other joined in through the walk.

Bridge

  This week we are trying to make a bridge that can withstand the most weight with the least amount of materials possible. Sonny is the civil designer, I am the civil engineer, Haki is the bridge welder and George is the resource manager. Our materials are hot glue and ice cream sticks. The bridge we are going for is something like this.

  

Heart Dissection

 The topic that we are in right now in science is heart dissection. I have learnt many things from this topic. For example the heart has four chambers called left atrium, right atrium, left ventricles and the right ventricle. I have also learnt that the left side of the heart is a lot more muscular than the right side because the left side pumps the blood all around the body where the right side doesn’t pump very far.

I have found learning about the heart was interesting and fun to learn about why each part of the heart does what it does. Next year I am looking forward to hopefully using the microscope because last time we did this it was fun and interesting. 

Undertstanding Media

Media There are many different media such as electronic and printed media. Printed media are things like newspaper, posters, magazines and even signs. Electronic media are things like ads, the news, a computer, social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tiktok. To use media watch videos, see signs on the road, read magazines watch television all of that stuff is media. We use media for thing such as entertainment and learning things. Watching videos on youtube or Instagram is watching media for your own entertainment. Personally I mainly use media for entertainment watching videos and going on Instagram. I also use it for learning especially in class.

We have been learning about European cultures and comparing them to New Zealand this is what I have me and Jahrome.

About Me

Hello my name is Qaiden, I go to BOIC. My favourite subjects are P.E. and Maths. My option right now is music. I have 1 sister, 2 brother and 2 dogs. I enjoy sports especially Football and Ki o Rahi. I enjoyed athletics. My goal is to come top 3 in cross country. My favourite sports in P.E. were Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton. In the future I would like to be a sportsman when I’m older. One of my school goals it to I pass all of my classes.

Usain Bolt

This day 2 activity 1 from teaser week of Summer Learning Journey 2019.

This weeks activity was to write 4 similes about a sport or sport person.

I found it kind of fun because I got to learn things as well as make this.

I learnt that Usain Bolt was cocky and 6'4 in height.

Next time I would probably Write my similes first and then edit afterwards.

Our Last Day With Our Student Teacher

It was our student teachers last day so she had a fun day planned. We first went to Assembly then had Morning tea then the fun began. First we had a game planned it was a treasure hunt so we had to collect letters and collect coordinates. When we collected all the letters we made the word it spelt Ruma Rima. I took us to room 5 in there the was chicken wings, chips and pizza. That was our lunch. After lunch we had a raffle we got rafflles for being on task and listening. My name got puleed out like 4-5 times I won a few lollie pops a packet of cards and a ball. It was a great week.

2019 Ski Camp

It was a early Monday morning we had just put our bag in the us we had left we were travelling. We finally stopped for morning tea after. 30 minutes we got back on the road and stopped 2 more toilet breaks we finally made it and went to put our bags in our room then me and Dayton jumped onto the tramp and started flipping and bouncing then we had dinner and dessert and went to sleep and about 9:30. The next day we went skiing and Mount Ruapehu we got our boots that were very uncomfortable and skis and had a lesson. We learnt how to stop and what was most effective for skiing. Then we had 2 hours of fun. Next day we had 1:30 of fun then a lesson we learnt how to turn and stop in a more complex way. After we took Gondola to the top of the Mountain. We came back after 1 hour of skiing for fun. The next day we went to the army museum it was super interesting learning about what happened in the war and what they ate. after exploring through the museum we had a challenge. We had a little cooker we had matches and something that we had to make catch fire. We cooked noodles, casserole and heated up some milo. We returned home and got ready to go the next day. The next day we put all of our bags in the bus and left home and 6 in the morning we left. We visited Lake Taupo and Huka Falls. We also stopped in Hamilton for pizza. Then it was a long trip back to Kawakawa. Overall it was a great camp and I would like to go back there.

Tuia Writing

This is my Tuia Writing. We did this because we wanted to know what happened with different people when James Cooks arrived. First we did people but now we did objects, this is what happened as soon as James Cook and his crew arrived. I got a makoi but there were a lot more items.

Free Writing

 5 A Side Tournament.

It was a Sunday afternoon, we had a fun tournament for our coach because he was leaving it was a 5 a side tournament each game was 10 minutes. there were 12th Grade, 13th Grade and 14th Grade. We got split into 8 teams. In our first seven games we drew 4 times won twice and lost once. We were third and got put in to the semi finals. we beat them 5-1 I scored 1 Sam scored 2 Ethan scored 1 and Louie scored 1 we got into the finals. The team we were versing had won every game expect one which they drew against us before. They were up 2-0 in the first five minutes. Sam scored after 30 seconds of their second goal, then a minute later he scored again. There was 2 minutes left and A ball got played over the top there was a player on me so I slid to get the ball. The ball just made it on the inside of the post and we went up 3-2. We hap put everyone in defence they had a few more chances but didn't score we had beaten the top team and won the tournament.

Rainbows End

It was my last game for Northland so my parents decided to take us to Rainbows End. It was a long trip so we stopped for sushi. We arrived there after about 2 or 3 hours after we started driving. The ride we went on was bumper karts it was easy to drive them and I only went after my parents. The next ride was the Stratosphere I there was so much screaming but I have been on it before so it wasn't really scary. We went on Gold Rush and the roller coaster next the roller coaster was fun but my head kept hitting the chairs. We went on another that I forgot the name of but it spun around going from one end to another. We went on to the go karts next and I came 2nd. Then we left because we were there for over 3 and a half hours so we went back to our motel.

Fun Run

On Monday we had a fun run we did activities while running in a paddock. Me and Honekai ran the 6 and 5 year old girls. It was our race me and Ngapua lead the race but he slowly got tired. The girls that left a bit before us I caught upto the second place girl and started sprinting to the first place but she saw me and ran aswell she beat me but I won my race.

Math Equation

This is my math equation that I got and answered. I found it easy because the way I used to figure it out was simple.  I just figured out what 20% of 1050 was then times it by 15.

Up In The Clouds

I had a long journey I was attempting the world record for the highest climbed by ladder. 125 km. In the first day I had made 100 km. I was extremely hungry, tired and I only had a little of water left. I was getting more fatigued by the second. But I knew I couldn't give up I was close. 5 hours later I was 100 meters away I was starving but I didn't care I climbed for another 20 minutes. I had made it a helicopter came and picked me up from the top and brought me down to the bottom. I finally got home I ate, drank and went to sleep after a day 5 hours and 20 minutes. I was proud of what I had achieved.

Meeting The Northland Taniwha

It was just after lunch when they arrived. One of the school past student Josh Goodhue. Most of the school was playing rugby with them. Some kids got interviewed  and some teachers and Northland players did as well. It was cool meeting them they were all nice guys and were fun to play with. Our school ended up singing a few songs and did a haka for them they left about 15 minutes after. Over all it was a great experience meeting them and fun playing around with them.
